Eurasian Curlew (Numenius arquata)

Named for their call, the Curlew is a migratory wading bird. Although it is considered common, it has lost 50% of it’s population in the last 20 years, so conservation efforts in Europe and Asia are working to protect it. One of its relatives, the Eskimo Curlew of North America, is considered nearly extinct.
